Inside Out -- Movie Review

Have you ever imagined what would it be like if all your actions were controlled by little people called emotions? Well, Disney have. The movie tells the story of a young girl called Riley. She is now moving from Minnesota to San Francisco, and how will the emotions react when she can't play hockey anymore, or she is made fun of in school, when she has no friends? Joy, Anger, Fear, Disgust and Sadness will have to find a way through. But then a terrible accident happen. Joy and Sadness are lost in the brain. How will Riley react without this two main emotions? Only watching you will see.
The movie won the Oscar for Best Animation. One of the main things that keeps us watching the movie is the comedy. And that wouldn't be possible without the the voice of the hilarious Lewis Black (Anger). Like we always see him in social media saying "Congratulations San Francisco, you've ruined pizza! First the hawaiians and now you!". Besides the expected-cheesy-disney-movie-ending, the movie was great. Certainly a movie for the whole family
Direction: 8.8

Tip of the Week (The Hundred-Foot Journey)

This comedy-drama tells the story about an indian family who just moved to France. They had a restaurant in Mumbai, but a tragedy make them move to Europe. Is there a better place to start an indian restaurant than 100 steps away from a restaurant that has Michelin Stars? Well the Kadam family thinks so. The second-oldest son, Hassam Kadam has a culinary gift and soon enough the owner of the restaurant that has Michelin Stars notice and want him as a cooker. She really wants to maintain her star or even win another one, she needs a good chef. Is Hassam the best option? Lots of controversies occur and finally Hassam moves to the restaurant in front. Will they manage to keep the stars
The movie is from 2014 and it was based on the novel by Richard Morais. It counts with good actors like Helen Mirren and Om Puri. Produced by Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey for the DreamWorks Pictures, The Hundred-Foot Journey was nominated for the Golden Globe, as Best Actress in Comedy or Musical with Helen Mirren, but it didn't won. This is a family movie that you will certainly love it!

The Big Short -- Movie Review (no spoilers)

The global economic meltdown just occurred in 2008, but some guys noticed years before. The Big Short is a movie that tells a story about people who made millions or even billions from disaster. Michael Burry is a crazy investors that always makes the right decisions, but he starts to get questioned when he starts to bet against the housing market. Pretty crazy right? The movie is full of banking terms and sometimes you get bored or you feel stupid, but the characters often break the fourth wall to try to help you. And famous people explain it to yo like Margot Robbie and Selena Gomez.
Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling and many more talented actors show that, in this real life based movie, making money not always makes you happy. You are betting that disaster will happen, if you are wrong the fraudulent system is still going on, and still working; but if you are right, you would make billions of dollars, but many people would lose their jobs, their houses, or even their lives. If you made billions out of it, would you be happy? The Big Short was nominated for five Oscars, including best picture and won Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay. Great movie, you should watch it.
Direction: 9.6
Actors: 9.5
Screenplay: 10.0

Tip of the Week (Radio)

Radio is a movie that is based on a true story. The movie tells the story about the mental-deficient teenager James Robert Kennedy, aka Radio, for his passions for radios; and a football coach. They met when the football team players were making fun of Radio and getting him scared. The movie is set in 1976, in a high school in South Carolina, were eventually the coach manage to get Radio into it. Harold (the coach) starts treating Radio like his own son, and eventually discovers that Radio lost his fathr that fixed radios and now he lives with his mother, that is super-protector, but believes in the coach.
After watching lots of practices Radio falls in love with Football, and starts helping Harold. Some people don't approve the staying of Radio in the sideline or even in the school. The battle that Harold and Radio have to stay in school starts to get complicated when the city hall interferes. Will the coach and James manage to overcome this story? But remember, this is a film based on a true story. A happy ending is questionable. Only watching you will find out.

Batman v.s Superman -- Movie Review (no spoilers)

If you are a real and fanatic HQ fan, go and watch it. But if you are not, well, don't waste your time. I'm not saying that the movie sucks, but,....... It could have been much better. We are talking about the two most famous heroes of all time! They are fighting against each other! This should be the movie of the year! But the tyring direction, and  lousy plot, made the film worse. One thing saved the movie completely. Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor). The guy was terrific! This is not the first time that a supporting actor saves a batman movie. We all remember Heath Ledger awesome performing. We might not be surprised is Jesse gets nominated for the next year's Oscars as the best supporting actor. Amy Adams also did a pretty good job, as Lois Lane.
The movie is really boring at the beginning, it only gets interesting towards the end when Batman says: "Do you bleed? …… You will", which is followed by fight scenes that are absolutely amazing. But then the fight scenes are over, the good part of the movie is actually over. If an almost surprising ending, Batman v.s Superman show us that this movie will be followed by The Justice League: Part One (2017). Overall the movie was a real disappointing to the fans, and maybe in the future (about 10 from now) some genius director might do a remake and make us forget this one.
Direction: 6.1
Actors: 7.9
Screenplay: 7.6
Plot: 7.0
OVR: 7.5

Awesome Easter Eggs in Famous Movies

We all know easter eggs right? Today I will be talking about the most famous easter eggs in movies. I'm not talking about the obvious ones like Stan Lee in every Marvel movie, and nothing related to the crazy easter eggs from Pixar; but about the hidden ones that almost no one can see.

Suicide Squad: What to Expect

Worst heroes ever? The villains are now the good guys, well, some of them. The Joker will always be the villain, don't matter the movie. Suicide Squad is a promising movie that will have a little bit of everything, comedy, action etc. Suicide Squad's producer Charles Roven said that all Marvel movies are intended to be PG-13, besides all the rumors that, because of the violence the movie might have, it would be R. “The intention of the film is definitely to be PG-13… We really want to make these films tonally consistent so that, as I said because this is a shared universe.". Said Roven after the San Diego Comic-Con trailer in 2015.
What are we really expecting? I think that the main question on the movie is if the "heroes" are really dying saving the world, or they will magically escape from death and come home alive? Is Jared Leto the best fit for this Joker? This answers can only be answered after we watch the movie. The movie will come out 4 and 5 of August in the whole world (not actually, but in the countries that the movie is being released is going to be in that dates). Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Cara Delevingne, Jai Courtney and Adewale Agbaje will make you want to travel to August.

Think, Act, Be Your Character

A great actor has always to think like his character, act like his character if he wants to make the scene more believable. Heath Ledger and Daniel Day Lewis are masters in it. For his Oscar winning performance at Batman: The Dark Knight, he wrote a journal for weeks as The Joker. He really wanted to make it look more realistic. And he did it. In my opinion, he  was the best Joker ever! He performs it so well, that you watch the movie and you really wants the Joker to beat Batman and become the main character. That was one of the rare times that the supporting actor and the villain was the best actor and the one who got all the attention.
Daniel Day Lewis, the three time Oscar winner, sometimes makes this so absurd that it gets kind of funny. In the movie "Lincoln" he made everyone call him The President for three weeks, ever Mr. Spielberg! This helped him improve his acting and improve other people's acting, because when they are acting it wouldn't be so weird to call him "President". He also learned to speak Czech for his role in The Unbearable Lightness of Being. He trained boxe for 18 months to make a better performance at The Boxer. And he also caught pneumonia while filming Gangs of New York because he refused to wear a toasty modern coat because it wasn’t in keeping with the period. Both great actors. If you ever want to be an actor, follow what this two guys did.

The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige added that "we've seen it coming", with regards the battle between Iron Man and Captain America. And there is something that happens in the world that divides them" via http://www.comicbookmovie.com/captain_america/captain_america_civil_war/the-avengers-get-ready-for-war-in-new-a132078

Old But Gold #2 (The Usual Suspects --- 1995)

The gang that was formed in the prison. Five different guys are arrested and are investigated by the cops so they can find out who really robbed the truck with guns inside. No one is charged and everyone is set free. Some years later Verbal Klint (Kevin Spacey) is in a cop's office telling the whole story of their plan to get some money. The cop mainly want to know about one of the members. Dean Keaton (Gabriel Byrne).
It keeps going from the story that Verbal is telling to him telling the officer, its very interesting. Like many movies out there this one starts with the ending with a mysterious guy in a coat killing someone, and then it goes to calm and warm past. You might or might not like the movie, but you certainly will love the ending. It is something so unpredictable that you will never had guessed. You might have hated the whole movie, but when you see the ending you will go and recommend it to all of your friends, family and strangers that you meet in the street.

Straight Outta Compton -- Movie Review

A true story. What movie that is about a true story isn't good? Well, Straight Outta Compton exceeds expectations, with the story of the N.W.A, Andre Young aka Dr. Dre; Ice Cube, Eazy E, Yella, and MC Ren, and how they got to the top, being one of the most famous "gangsta" band group in history
The movie starts with Eazy E entering a house selling drugs. That scene is very important to the movie, because it shows how dangerous the city of Compton, CA is. And how Dre and his friends decide to go to Miami and get involved in the music business. They found a businessman after they release their first and very successful song, Straight Outta Compton. With great money comes great fights, and not so great discussions about "who is the leader" and "I'm not signing that".
As the movie goes by, you will notice famous songs like "Fuck the Police" and also famous artists as Snoop Dogg, that started recording with Dre and then he says: "This guy got some talent!"
The movie was nominated for The Oscar of "Best Original Screenplay", it should have won, but it didn't. Great Movie!

Direction: 8.1
 Actors: 8.3
Screenplay: 9.7

The Movie That Grossed More Money in History

James Cameron is an awesome director that knows how to make money! The only two movies that passed the mark of 2 billion dollars, were directed by him. Titanic and Avatar.
You probably already know the story, the paralytic american soldier going to another planet to find an element that only exists in this certain planet, called Pandora. Still struggling to remember? Well, they go to Pandora, there they find native people, and then they use a strange type of technology where where you enter a strange machine that does strange things and finally you become a strange creature that seems normal to the natives. If you got interested, watch the rest of the movie, I'm not going to spoil it here.
Avatar grossed 2.78 billion dollars! That is more money that you will grosse in your whole life (you know that is true)!  Awesome special effects and an original story, contributed a lot to raise money, but one of the main factors might have been the new technology called 3Dimensional picture. The movie went out in 2009, 3D was something that nobody know it could be possible and we can certainly say that the high-priced tickets, because of the 3D, were another crucial factor for all the money that the movie grossed.
The movie counts with pretty good actors like Sam Worthington and Michelle Rodriguez, that certainly didn't expect to make so much money with their bonus based on the amount of money that the movie grossed.

Old But Gold #1 (Pulp Fiction -- 1994)

Pulp Fiction is a classic movie directed by the genius Quentin Tarantino. Pulp Fiction received 54 awards like: The Oscar for Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen and the Golden Globe for Best ScreenPlay. It received incredible 60 nominations! 7 for the Oscar and 6 for the Golden Globe. The movie counts with incredible actors like John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis, and the list goes on.
You have to pay much attention to the chronology, because it is not a regular movie. The time alternates every single scene, so if you miss 10 minutes of the movie you can get really lost! And the ending of the movie is actually the beginning. You must be thinking that a movie so complex like that may not be so good, but is Quentin Tarantino.
Pulp Fiction -- Times of Violence. The title speaks for itself. The movie it's full of violence, even if you do not enjoy movies like that, you will love Pulp Fiction. Sometimes the violence mix up with mystery and comedy, keeping the viewers entertained. The story is not only about one character and his problems, but it is about a bunch of characters in various situations. That doesn't mean that the stories are not connected. Everything revolves around the Mafia and its mysterious leader. At the end of the  movie you will see that every one of the characters have met, it can be maybe in only one scene, but they will. Sometimes in the movie you will see a character dying but after, he will appear again. That is what I was talking about when I said this wasn't a normal movie with a normal chronological order.

Well, this was the first Old But Gold, if you enjoyed leave a comment!

The Worst and the Best Book-Movie Adaptations

The Worst and the Best Book-Movie adaptations

THE WORSTS:
no the office steve carell michael scott no god no

#1: 50 Shades of Grey

Considered the worst movie of 2015, 50 Shades of Grey was certainly a disappointment. The great book that sold millions and millions of copies had enchanted men and women all around the world, with magic between the lines, able to feel sorry for the unreal characters, to feel the pain that he/she is feeling. An awesome job by E. L. James. When the movie was announced, the fans went crazy; and the expectation was really high, but when the movie came out…….. The actors did a horrible job, showing absolutely no emotion when performing. We could not see, or feel what the actors were feeling, which is crucial for a movie to be good. The writers I think were even worst, taking out important dialogues that were in the book, and missing important details. The movie will certainly be something to forget, but not the book.

#2 The Giver:
The Giver must be one of the best books ever written, with passion, mystery, action, adventure, suspense, agony, everything. But the movie was absolutely terrible. The actors were kind of ok, but the director........ that was HORRIBLE. In the movie when is everything "normal" (how it always was) everything is in black and white! It makes absolutely no sense! But when the main character starts having emotions, only he is colorful and everything is black and white! It will be so strange if you loved the book and than you watch the movie. Somethings made absolutely no sense, there were characters missing and the ending was to simple, compared to the book. Lois Lowry made the work of his life and the writers and directors managed to ruin everything. The Giver should always be remembered as a book and never as movie.

THE BESTS:

#1 The Martian:

I really need to say something? That movie was fantastic! The book is awesome! I think that Matt Damon did the performance of his life! Of course DiCaprio was better, but Matt deserved not more, not less than the honor to be nominated for the 88th Academy Awards! Making an adaptation from such a good book is really risky (you see what happened to 50 Shades of Grey), but Ridley Scott did it! The movie can show you in the big screen what the author was trying to say when he wrote the book. The book keeps us entertained, and wanting to finish it in one day, but we also don't want the book to end. That's how we also feel about the movie. That's how you know that you are reading a great book, and watching an awesome movie.

#2: Hunger Games

The Hunger Games trilogy was originally written to be a juvenille trilogy, but with time, people from all ages starting to fall in love with this book. The book comes with multiples surprises, disappointments and  passion. Enchanting kids and elders from all around the world. What happens when a book is a world best-seller? They make a movie! Does this movies always comes as good as the books? Of course (50 Shades of Grey) not! But sometimes when the book author helps in the movie, it can really translate the words into images in the big screen. That was what Suzane Collins did, giving information on every single scene of every single movie. The movie became more popular than the book, and than when fans heard that their favorite movie was based on a book...... Money to Ms. Collins. This movie was an impact on every single actor that performed. But mainly J. Lawrence, who after this movie, was seen as the great actress she is.

CONTROVERSIAL:

#The Only One: Harry Potter

Harry Potter, by J.K Rowling must be one of the most controversial book-movie adaptations EVER. Some people might say that the writers and directors didn't couldn't capture the magic that the book brings you, some might say that they were fantastic, but I will leave this one up to you! Comment down below: Do you think that Harry Potter was a good book-movie adaptation?

Congratulations DiCaprio! You did it!

Leonardo DiCaprio has finally won an Oscar! Did he deserved it? Probably. We might say that the Academy was in debt with Leo; he should have won years ago! This year he was absolutely fantastic in "The Revenant",

T    so was Michael Fassbender interpreting Steve Jobs. Everybody knows that the dispute was between Fassbender and DiCaprio. But it was Leo time!
He had been nominated for 5 awards. Four by best actor; One for best supporting actor; and one for best picture. It was absurd that such a good actor had never won an Oscar
His speech was interesting, talking mostly about climate change and environmental issues, but also thanking the great job that Alejandro did on the movie and all the producers and actors from “The Revenant”
                                                 R.I.P DiCaprio no-oscar Memes
